About Me
Born in captivity in 1976, I lived a nomadic infancy with four German Shepherds until being rescued by social workers under I-95 in Miami. After that I grew up at Nick Bollettieri’s tennis academy, where I developed a phenomenal backhand. However, after breaking my wrist “horsing around” in 1990, I was cast off, hitchiking to New York. There I was taken in by a subway accordion player and his wife, and we performed daily at 77th St./Lenox Hill station on the 6 line. A sample of our work can be seen at 3:40 here in the 1995 movie “Kids.” Later teaching myself how to read, I landed an academic scholarship at Columbia, where I was a walk-on punter on the football team. In 2001 I signed as a free agent with the Detroit Lions. I enjoyed a six-year NFL punting career with Detroit, the Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers. The highlight of my career was being on the Vikings “Love Boat” in 2005. After my NFL career ended without any money to show for it (thanks, NFLPA) I moved to Toronto where I currently write this blog for the benefit of six to 135 people a day.
